Seamus Coleman Looking Forward to Getting into Training.
linked up with his teammates and, after a period of rest and recuperation, says that he is raring to commence the gruelling pre-season work.
“It’s great to see everyone and it’s always an exciting day,” the Republic of Ireland man told evertontv.
“You see all the lads and see how their holidays went and I’m sure in the coming weeks we will all be looking forward to getting into training.
“I know everyone watching the World Cup can’t wait to get back playing football.”
The players reconvened on Thursday at various times as they underwent rigorous checks by the Club’s medical and fitness staff.
Coleman added: “It’s been different kinds of test this morning. We haven’t had the footballs out or done any running yet. We are just getting eased back into it and when we head away to Austria it will start properly.
“There have been a few stretches and different techniques - things we haven’t been used to doing – but the [staff] are just trying to see how our bodies react to different exercises.”
Coleman was also pleased to greet Gareth Barry with a warm handshake after the midfielder penned a permanent three-year deal with the Club earlier in the week.
“I’m delighted,” added the right-back. “I’ve just seen him there and welcomed him back properly – he’s our player now which is important.
“The season he had last year, he was a big reason why we performed so well.”
