Active School flag raied at the Niall Mór N.S.

This school year, the Niall Mór N.S. decided to work towards achieving an active school flag.  Questionnaires were completed by pupils, staff and parents.  Based on the feedback received, an action plan was devised.  This included improvements in 15 different areas of PE within the school.  A highly successful launch day took place on Friday 18th September where Donegal GAA County Senior Team Manger Rory Gallagher addressed the children.  This kick started our activities for the year ahead.

Some of our improvements included the following:

  • Move It Monday
  • Try It Tuesday
  • Work It Wednesday
  • Thumping Thursday
  • Fantastic Footwork Friday
  • GAA Young Whistlers Referees Course
  • Zumba
  • John Conwell's aerobic classes
  • Hurling
  • Athletics coaching with the Transition year students in the tech
  • Finn Harps soccer coaching
  • Healthy Heart Week
  • Lunchtime leagues

Following accredation we were awarded the Active School Flag at the ned of May and on Friday, 10th June 2016 Rory Gallagher returned to the school to raise the flag.

Many thanks to pupils, parents, the wider community and the school staff for their tremendous efforts throughout the year.
