Gareth’s Walk for the Make a Wish Ireland Foundation
I am sure many people from this Parish would like to wish Gareth Leslie, Benroe good wishes on his quest to raise money for the charity organisation Make a Wish Ireland.
Gareth Leslie who is chief engineer on the MFV Lovon has set off to do the Camino de Santiago route. Well done to his mum and dad for sponsoring him in such a generous way. Seaquest Systems, their family business will donate €2.50 for every km walked. His sister Alana Mc Hugh set up a page to help with donations.
Pilgrims have been walking the Camino de Santiago for centuries, following the many paths to Santiago de Compostela and the tomb of St James.
This year marks the 30th anniversary. That's 30 years of granting magical and life-changing wishes to the most deserving of children. Since being established in the UK in 1986, they have granted more than 10,000 wishes
Gareth decided to do this walk after watching The Way, a 2010 American drama film, produced and written by Emilio Estevez, starring his father Martin Sheen, Deborah Kara Unger, James Nesbitt, Yorick van Wageningen, and Renée Estevez.
So far Gareth has clocked up approx 170k. The big hearted Gareth has said “I'm super excited that if I'm able to bring a smile to 1+ kids, cause they are the brave ones”
Well Done Gareth.
I hope others will help Gareth make a wish come true for many of our sick little children out there.
