Good Luck to Donegal in Cavan this Evening

Donegal v Monaghan, Kingspan Breffni Park, 7pm

The drawn match was the most intense and intriguing contest in the 2016 Championship and this replay is eagerly anticipated.

Donegal’s budding rivalry with Monaghan is flecked with several tight and tense games since the 2013 Ulster decider.

Last Saturday’s thriller eventually ended level following an ice cool free from Conor McManus deep into stoppage time.

In the closing stages Donegal, assisted by an Odhran MacNiallais goal, edged two points clear, but Monaghan came thundering back.

“It was backs to the wall at the end, and to be fair, we showed great heart, and character, in the end,” was Donegal manager Rory Gallagher’s verdict.

“I thought we had it a couple of times. But you’d never write Monaghan off. They’re a great battling team. We found ourselves 10-7 down earlier in the second half, which is a lot in game like that, so happy with the way we battled back too.”
