Northwest Offshore Racing Association (NORA). 2016 Killybegs
Also on this weekend (Friday and Saturday) are the final championship races organised by the Northwest Offshore Racing Association (NORA). Competitors from the North West Ireland region will take part, with Sligo and Mullaghmore well represented along with local stalwarts. Now in it’s fifth year, this event looks set to grow. Competition begins on Friday evening with a race from Mullaghmore to Killybegs for yachts over 24ft. This trial will start at 5:30pm and should reach Killybegs after 7:30pm. On Saturday, there will be three races, starting at 11:30am.
for on-lookers, because of the size of the boats, racing begins and ends outside Killybegs Harbour. Those with a good pair of binoculars can see the action from St John's Point, Drumanoo Head or Largy. Prize-giving will be in the Tara Hotel on Saturday night.
