Record scorer McFadden calls time on Donegal career
Donegal’s record appearance holder Colm McFadden has brought to an end to his 14-year inter-county career following the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Dublin.
It marked his 64th Championship appearance – his 170th in all – and retires with a National League title, three Ulster titles and an All-Ireland medal from 2012, the same year he won his solitary All Star.
“That will be it after today, yeah,” McFadden told the Irish Times.
“Them young fellas...that game is changing all the time and there is plenty of fine talent coming through, good legs, good footballers so it is time for them to take up the baton now. The future is bright for Donegal football.
“Every man has his day."
