If you have any plans to travel in this part of the world on Saturday week (Oct 8) you'd be well advised to check your route in advance. That's the date of the Donegal Motor Club's "Martin Howley Memorial Harvest Stages Rally", so there'll be a few about.
The event is sponsored by the Bay View Hotel & Leisure Centre and, as well as the the Donegal Motor Club’s own internal championship, supported by Donegal Commercials in Letterkenny, two other contests are being decided.
They are the final round of the Triton Showers National Rally championship and also the final round of the Sligo Pallets Border Rally series. Stages will be run off around Kilcar, Glencolmcille, Croagh and Lough Adeery.
Headquarters will, naturally, be at the Bay View and the service area will be on the apron at the Auction Hall Pier, where there will also be a big screen showing live action from the stages.
You can take it that parking in the town centre will be somewhat restricted.
But it should be a great day in salute to a man who made Killybegs his home and did us proud in so many ways.
