CONGRATULATIONS and COMMISERATIONS
It was a week full of highs and lows for the club. Wednesday saw our most decorated team this year, U16 boys, receive their cup as county divisional champions when they over came Naomh Columba in Ardara. An excellent display of football was on show with an 11 point to 5 win over Naomh Columba.
Unfortunately Sunday just wasn't their day when the county semi final was won by their opponents, Mac Cumhaills.. Well done to the team and management on their success throughout the year.
The U13 girls played in their county semi final on Saturday morning against Aodh Ruadh, some great footballing skill was on show but unfortunately it was 2 unlucky goals that saw the visitors to Fintra head off with the win. Well done to Sharon, her team and all the girls on a great effort all year.
The U21 lads, they had 2 games within 3 days but that didn't stop them! Saturday saw them tackle Bundoran in the B county semi final which was played in Glenties. They came out victorious as 1.13 to 1.11 winners and bagged themselves a spot in Monday's Final.
Monday 31st of October 2016, a historic day for Killybegs as our U21 team were crowned B County Champions, a feat that hasn't been accomplished in the club in over 30 years. The game was tit for tat in the first half but the second half saw Killybegs rattle up the scores and see off Letterkenny Gaels with 3 extra points in their pockets. Final score Killybegs 1.12 Letterkenny Gaels 1.9.
MINOR BOARD PRESENTATION NIGHT
This will take place in the Bayview Hotel on Friday 2nd December at 7pm
We have registered the club for MOVEMBER as KillybegsGAA on https://ie.movember.com/mospace/?firstvisit=true, we hope some of our male members and players will take part in this great event supporting men's health!
Movember are being supported by the GAA again this year to stop men dying too young.
On average men die 6 years earlier than women, the reasons for this are complicated but it's clear that men aren't comfortable talking about their health, feelings or going to the doctor and instead they suffer in silence. With 1 in 8 Irish men being diagnosed with prostate cancer and 8 in 10 suicides being men, it's clear that we need to take action.
GROW! men in Killybegs GAA club can support by registering and growing a moustache for the 30 days of Movember
ACTIVE! Stay active for men's health for the month of November.
On a daily basis our fathers, brothers, sons and friends face a health crisis that's not being talked about. We can't afford to stay silent, we need to talk, and we need to take action.
Anyone with information for club notes or any changes to fixtures please let Aisling know by Monday evening.
