Killybegs Community Council Meeting 10th October 2018

Killybegs Community Council Meeting

10th October 2018

Carpet Factory Meeting Room, Killybegs

Summary of Minutes

Killybegs Community Council extends its congratulations to the Tidy Towns Committee for the increase of 9 points in this year’s competition.

A grant of €125,000 has been awarded to Killybegs through the Town & Village Renewal Scheme – details of how the funds will be spent will be made public after consultation with Donegal County Council.

Funding has been secured from the FLAG programme to sponsor street signage, flags and flagpoles.  Decisions on design and placement will be made after discussion and review of options.

A suggestion has been made that a monument should be erected in Killybegs to honour those helping to save lives at sea.  Funding options will be investigated by the KCC.

No response has been received from Donegal County Council regarding the possible installation of solar powered compacting public bins as seen in other towns.  Parking and congestion problems in town and at Fintra Beach particularly in regard to camper vans are likely to arise again next summer and the KCC will ask the Gardai for clarification on restrictions.

Christmas street lights will continue to be upgraded this year to make installation easier and quicker.  The switch on will be held on December 2nd at 6pm, suggestions are welcome for events or participants to add to the festivities on the night.  A church gate collection will take place on the 15th & 16th of December for the lights.

The next Killybegs Community Council meeting is open to the public and will take place at 8pm on November 14th 2018 at the Killybegs International Carpet Making & Fishing Centre meeting room – all are welcome.
