Treasurers Report

Current balance €10,032

Monies Due from Malin Waters Fund and BIM Flag Funding

 

Upcoming and ring-fenced expenditure

€8,000 for Playground refurbishment

€4,000 for Christmas Lights, new and upgrading

 

Town and Village Renewal Scheme Funding

As announced last month, €125k has been awarded to Killybegs.  The Chair met with Eamonn Boyle from Donegal County Council to discuss the next step.  A working group is to be established to oversee the project and report back to the Council. 

The funds will be used as outlined in the application document.  Craft Shop will receive some funds for outfitting.  Development of the Food Hub and indoor Market.  Development of local walks and a street painting scheme. 

 

Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights will start to go up shortly and will be switched on Sunday the 2nd of December at 18:00hrs.  Suggestions for events around the switch on are welcome.  There will be a Church Gate collection to help fund the lights on 15th and 16th of December.  There will be a bag packing afternoon at Supervalu on Saturday 1st of December from 10am to 4pm to help raise funds.

 

Maritime Rescue Services

Positive feedback was received on FB regarding plans to recognise the work done by volunteers and emergency services involved in saving lives at Sea.  Sources of funding are being investigated.  An Arts grant may be an option.  It was suggested that a piece of equipment could be purchased and donated from the town council.

 

Road at Vocational School

This project is well underway, an Island will be installed in the middle of the road with a Pedestrian crossing either side.

 

Playground Group Report

Swing is still broken.  We have been in touch with the County Council about this.

 

 

 

All other Business

 

·       One-way street – this is with road design planners in Lifford.  Public consultation in the new year. 

 

·       Marine Drive and burst Water mains, 3rd time in 2 years. These are old Asbestos, Cement lines pipes which need renewal and run from the Waterworks to the town. 

 

·       Stop sign turned sideways at the top of Main Street

 

·       At the Yellow lines at the corner in front of Gallagher’s Town Factory it was suggested a Planter could be put there to stop illegal parking which obstructs the view of traffic.

 

·       Courtesy crossings promised for the shore road are still in the pipeline.  There will be stronger lights installed at the Pedestrian Crossing.

 

·       More Seating on the Shore Road

 

·       Local Area Plan is up and running

 

·       Department of Marine Weighbridge – Works to install ESB Sub-Stations for power for Fishing Vessels.  There is also one being installed in the Auction Hall. 

 

·       Department of Marine have applied to backfill more shoreline at the Marina for additional parking and administrative buildings.

 

·       Department Building which was previously the Harbour Store is to be redeveloped under the rural regeneration scheme.  It will be a work Hub/Offices upstairs and downstairs will house the Tourist Information Centre and Public Toilets.

 

 

·       Footpath Renewal  – At Mooney Boats and Ahoy, very poor condition.  Cllr advised this work is scheduled to start January

 

·       Footpath past Supervalu – No update, send another letter from the Council

 

·       By Pass – Footpath being laid one side? Send letter to the County Council

 

·       Fintra Bridge – This planning for this project is ongoing.  Shortly there should be consultation with landowners and following that hopefully it will go to Public Consultation the first week of December. 

 

·       Tourism College – LYIT grants were discussed.  There has been an application made through the Rural regeneration scheme for funding to build an Ocean Innovation Centre on the site.

 

·       Hospital – A patient Garden is being built at the Hospital, HIQUA requirement.

 

·       Respite Care for anyone under 65?.. Checking Hospital rules/protocols and entry requirements.
