John McCarthy who tragically lost his life in an accident at Killybegs Harbour yesterday.

Bere Islander John was a engineer and crewman on the Castletownbere pelagic trawler Menhaden and his tragic loss has been deeply felt by the fishing community and all that knew him.

Reposing in Harrington’s Funeral Home, Castletownbere, on this Monday 18th March, from 4.30 pm to 7pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Tuesday 19th March, at 12 midday in St Michael's Church, Bere Island, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, by request, donations, if desired, to The Castletownbere Lifeboat and Coastguard.
