Rory P Cunningham Chariots of the Sea

Rory P Cunningham Chariots of the Sea

Oh to visit Donegal

Rugged, wild and sweet,
To pause awhile at Killybegs
And gaze upon the fleet,

Black, yellow, red, blue,
Green, white and gold,
Courageous little fishing boats
Trawlers big and bold,

Starboard to port they grace the pier
Bow’s held proud and high,
Countless white antennas
Reaching for the sky,

I am humbled in their presence
These chariots of the sea,
Tethered, humming, glowing
Heaving to be free.
