Killybegs Regeneration Plan
Killybegs Community Council are pleased to report that over 100 submissions were made to Donegal County Council regarding the development plan for the Diamond Area in Killybegs. Thanks to these submissions, local councillors heard the strong objections to reducing the width of the Shore Road and to introducing a one-way system in front of McGinley’s Draper and these changes will not go ahead. However, despite the obvious drawbacks the proposal still includes a car park with only one entry/exit point which removes the option of driving through the car park. The amended plan will go before all Donegal Councillors for approval before being submitted for funding. This plan is not available for the public to view so we cannot identify any other changes which may or may not have been made before it goes before the entire Council. It is positive news that our voices were eventually heard on such a major change to the heart of our town, but we must keep shouting! We wish to thank everyone who came to the Killybegs Community Council public meeting and who made submissions. You can still contact your local councillor about this plan before the next vote on Monday 22nd July – see details below.
