The Death of St Joseph

The Death of St Joseph The recently acquired marble piece of The Death of St Joseph has been framed and installed by Sean Doherty of Doherty Joinery on the left hand side of the church, beside the Adoration Room entrance. We are grateful to Sean for his expertise and kindness. There are few references to St Joseph in the Gospels. He was the legal father of Jesus, who grew in wisdom and maturity for thirty years under the love and care of Mary and Joseph in Nazareth. Joseph does not appear during Jesuspublic ministry which leads us to believe that he had died by then. The marble piece shows Joseph on his death-bed, with Mary and Jesus by his side. Having died in the arms of Jesus and Mary’, Joseph is considered the Patron Saint of a happy death.
