Killybegs Community Council

Killybegs Community Council

Meeting Minutes 12th June 2019

Correspondence - Correspondence was read from the Killybegs Harbour Development Group regarding their proposals for development of a new synchrolift and extension of the new pier. A letter from Kathleen McGuinnes and Ann McHugh was also read regarding the establishment of the Tourist Information Office along with the late Ann Dorrian.
Playpark - Painting through the DLDC scheme is ongoing. It is hoped to install Astroturf and painted ground level games soon.
Town & Village Renewal Scheme - Plans ongoing for painting, shop fronts and seafood shop. Possibility of purchasing/leasing compacting solar power bins with this funding to be examined.
With the news that DLCoCo produced a radical and extensive plan for the town centre without consulting stakeholders (contrary to their public claim of same), KCC is to investigate commissioning a report which would survey all sections of the community to gauge what people want to see the town become in the short and long term.
Hooked - Plans for a 2-day event have been shelved due to a lack of funding.
Killybegs Centre Regeneration Project - Plan proposed by DLCoCo for Diamond area is criticised by members for reducing parking, narrowing a main road and introducing a one-way system among other issues. Also discussed; the absence of consultation and pressure being exerted by planners on stakeholders due to time constraints on funding. No councillors are present to offer further information.
Any Other Business - Enquiries are to be made of the Council regarding a footpath on the Industrial Road or the possibility of a Greenway from the town to Fintra Beach.
Meeting closed - next meeting 11th September 2019.
