Killybegs Defib Kiosk Today


Despite the unsettled weather, there was a great turnout at the launch of the Killybegs Defib Kiosk today

. The Launch began with music from the Letterkenny Ukulele Orchestra followed by a few words from Miriam Curran about how the idea came about and how the successful 5 month fundraising campaign made the Kiosk a reality.

She then introduced the guest speakers, Mr Fergus MC Carron, TD Thomas Pringle and Johnny Paul MCGuinness . The Kiosk was officially opened by Mr. Fergus McCarron, from Letterkenny, a retired Ambulance Training Officer who considers himself a walking miracle after surviving 3 cardiac arrests in the last 20 yrs by the successful use of a defib and CPR.


Johnny Paul Mc Guinness spoke about the successful fundraising campaign for a defibrillator for the Killybegs Ambulance in the early 90’s which then was followed by a national roll out of defibs for ‘Cardiac Ambulances’.

TD Thomas Pringle acknowledged the huge support from the community as a whole in getting behind the initiative and praised the newly formed CFR group for their hard work in getting to the stage of going live on 16th Aug .






Following the cutting of the ribbon the Letterkenny Ukulele Orchestra closed the launch with a few tunes .
